Our Contract
We promise... To treat each other with kindness To be respectful To be safe To be responsible To use listening ears To do our best Behavior Management Plan What happens when Our Promise is broken? Step 1- Verbal Warning Mrs. Zylstra will give a verbal warning to let the student know they are breaking the contract and further misbehavior will result in a consequence. Step 2- Take a break Student is removed from the setting where the misbehavior occurred. They will spend time reflecting on their behavior in the Calming Corner and rejoin the class when they are ready to tell Mrs. Zylstra how they will fix their behavior. Step 3- Loss of Privilege Student will lose the opportunity to partake in a classroom privilege depending on the misbehavior. For example, if the student is continuing to talk to others during learning time after going through Step 1 and 2, they may lose the privilege to choose their work space. Step 4- Think Sheet Student fills out a Think Sheet to reflect on their behavior on a deeper level. They will write what they did, how they feel about it, and what they will do differently next time. This paper will go home and should be signed by the parent or guardian. Step 5- Break in Mrs. Eilers Room and Phone Call Home Student will take a break from our classroom and spend time learning in Mrs. Eilers room. Mrs. Zylstra will call parents immediately or at the end of the day to discuss misbehavior. |
Our Birthdays
Your child may bring in a birthday treat to celebrate his/her birthday. Treats can be sent with your child or dropped off to the school office during the day. Summer birthdays can be celebrated as "Half Birthdays" or during the month of May- just send me an email regarding the day you would like to send in a treat. We have gluten and egg allergies in our class this year. Please be mindful of this when you choose a treat to send. No homemade treats are permitted. Here is a list of treat ideas that are both gluten and egg free: Fruit Snacks Dum Dums Tootsie Rolls Swedish Fish Skittles Airheads (regular kind) M&Ms Applesauce Fruit Veggie Straws Skinny Pop Popcorn Anything from the brand "Enjoy Life" If your child is having a birthday party, please send invitations through the regular mail service unless your child is inviting the entire class or all students of his/her gender from the class. This will help avoid hurt feelings. Thank you! |
